Building the Future

Building a new future

Building the Future is a hands-on activity aimed to provide high school students a taste of many engineering disiplines. The high school students will be solving problems that arise from a "natural disaster" to a city. These problems will incorporate the many facets of engineering with a break-down of each. Projects include building a wind-powered generator for emergency power, contructing a bridge, decontaminating the soil from a chemical spill, and searching for missing people with autonomous robots.

This semester, Building the Future will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2008 from approximately 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Iowa State's campus.

Please register by April 21, 2008, by sending an email to Matt Goodman (mgoodman@iastate.edu). Any questions can be directed to him as well.
