Meeting Minutes 2-6-12
1) Initiate Pizza Party this Thursday, February 9th
i) In 1115 Pearson at 6:00 pm
ii) Any members are welcome
iii) Free pizza and can introduce yourself
iv) LeVern- have you had anyone contact you?
v) Kendall- a few
(a) If an initiate cannot make it, have them email Kendall
vi) LeVern- people often start showing up at a quarter of six
(a) If you can come, please bring your computer to help people sign in
(b) All help would be appreciated
2) Career Fair tomorrow
i) Contacting companies to bring in corporate sponsors
ii) Ideally have each cabinet member contact one company
iii) Can ask for HR contact
iv) Vania- Did everyone get the Google Doc link?
(a) If you have connection with a company, please talk to them
(b) Please take business cards to give to someone
(c) You can sign up tonight for companies to talk to
(d) Please make sure to get a name and an email/phone number
v) Aaron- The people at the booths are your best chance to get in contact
3) Projects reports tonight
i) If you need to write them, people are staying after the meeting tonight
(a) Includes small group leaders, committee chairs, and people who have helped at/participated in various events
4) District Meeting (March30-31)
i) Have room for more than current and future president to go
ii) See what other chapters in our district have been up to
iii) Headed back by 2:00
iv) If you are interested and have the time, please contact LeVern or Aaron
5) Food safety training for project events
i) Need as many as possible for the Rollercoaster and Catapult Competitions
ii) This is super easy and can apply to all groups across campus
6)Start with small group process soon
7) Nicole- possibly talking about providing food for students coming out of large exams
i) How soon will we start this?
ii)Aaron- the process is relatively easy
iii) Who would be the best department to contact for dates?
iv) Vania- I think all major test dates are online
v) Can do room reservations to reserve a part of the building- start with this
8) LeVern- Going to be abandoning you from the 22nd of February to the 15th of March
i) Rick Stone is an advisor and will be attending the meetings in LeVern's absence
ii) Please add him to listservs
9) Want to get information about Catapult and Rollercoaster Competition out to people
i) Quad Cities group could help bring in teams from that area
ii) Talking to Chloe and Stephen about getting the presentation
Meeting Minutes 1-25-12
1) Welcome to first general meeting
2) General meeting attendance has been declining
i) Trying to revive/find incentive to get members to general meetings
ii) Want to start implementing these now- start brainstorming
iii) Initiation process takes up a lot of our energy but still need to focus on other
iv) At convention, received Chapter Project Award, Chapter Laureate Award, and Membership Award
(a) Well-laid out initiation process
(b) Want members to be active after initiation
v) Please brainstorm in committee meetings
3) District Program Chapter Recognition Award
i) Would like to receive this reward
ii) Team up with ANS and Alpha Phi Omega again
iii) District convention coming up in March
4) Chapter PowerPoint presentation
5) Shadow Boxes
6) Letter-stuffing party on Sunday, January 29th
i) Takes about a half hour
ii) Members can take letters to people they know
(a) Hand-delivering letters makes a much larger impression
iii) 3:30pm in 402 Marston
iv) LeVern- got the undergraduate list today
(a) ~83 juniors and 232 seniors
v) Initiated 52 undergraduates last semester
vi) Initiation is key to future of the chapter
vii) Please come, even if only for a bit
7) Will have about 6 or 5 small groups for initiation
i) Will need 12 or 14 small group leaders
ii) Great way for all members to get involved
8) Kendall- letter-stuffing party on Sunday and looking for small group leaders
i) February 9th- Initiate Pizza Party at 6:00 pm in Pearson 1115
9) Jordan- looking at having another resume party
i) Perhaps next Thursday before Career Fair
10) Listservs should be updated soon
i) Will keep up with initiates that have chosen not to continue with the process
ii) Keep in touch with Kendall
iii) LeVern- got initiate list today and will get member list tomorrow
(a) More people complain if they graduated and still get emails
(b) Have last semester's initiates been added to the member list?

13) How many people are taking FE exam this semester or when they are near graduation?
i) Idea of having chapter to pay for one or two of the study books to put in department who has most members attend general meeting (corrected for population distribution)
(a) How powerful of an incentive would this be?
(b) What if this was based on personal attendance instead of per department?
(c) If this would get people to come, it would be worth it
ii) Nicole- we do get a 30% discount as Tau Beta Pi member
(a) FE exam is a couple days after the Rollercoaster Competition, right?
(b) Deadline for FE exam is being received by February 16th

14) Leigh- When are we completing project reports for next semester?
i) Probably next week- (Wednesday or Thursday)
15) LeVern- Reminder that if you are applying for scholarship, you should be working on that now

- Pi mile run (5k) on October 8th - initiates need to have one community service activity, so this is a good opportunity
