Marston Hall

MarstonHallCompleted in 1903 as Engineering Hall, it was renamed in 1947 to honor Anston Marston, first Dean of Engineering, who served as Dean from 1904 to 1932. Anston Marston was a 1889 graduate of Cornell, Ithaca, New York and joined the Iowa State faculty in 1892. He built the engineering division of Iowa State into one of national prominence.  He was also largely responsible for the development of Iowa’s early road system. Marston Court, Marston Water Tower and Ames’ Marston Avenue also are named in his honor. (Anston Marston was initiated as a Honorary member of Tau Beta Pi by Iowa Alpha)
