The 2024 Roller Coaster Competition

The 2024 Roller Coaster Competition was held on Wednesday April 17, 2024. Both High School student teams and Middle School student teams participated. The Rube Goldberg challenge was to Ring the Bell!

Younger participants were endorsed to view the Roller Coaster Promotional Video.
All students participating in the competition were required to submit upon arrival a signed copy of the Parental Permission Agreement (Youth Participant and Parental Permission Agreement Tau Beta Pi Roller Coaster Competition 2024)
The Roller coaster drop-off and parking area was just to the west of Sukup Hall (labeled 6A on the map). The roller coasters were taken to the Howe atrium thru the north entrance of Howe Hall. After unloading each vehicle was provided with a Visitor Parking Permit that could be used to park only in empty parking places in General Staff Parking area shown in yellow on the Roller Coaster Dropoff and Parking Map. A free lunch of Pizza and Soft Drinks or water was provided to participants.
For high school seniors, who participated in the event and attended Iowa State University to study engineering beginning Fall 2024, they were encouraged to apply to receive a $500 Tau Beta Pi Scholarship!
