Marston Hall

MarstonHallCompleted in 1903 as Engineering Hall, it was renamed in 1947 to honor Anson Marston, first Dean of Engineering, who served as Dean from 1904 to 1932. Anson Marston was a 1889 graduate of Cornell University, Ithaca, New York and joined the Iowa State faculty in 1892. He built the engineering division of Iowa State into one of national prominence. He was also largely responsible for the development of Iowa’s early road system. Marston Court, Marston Water Tower and Ames’ Marston Avenue are also named in his honor. (Anson Marston was initiated as a member of Tau Beta Pi by Iowa Alpha on April 21, 1909)
